Overlay Sweater & Vest Kits - Cormo Fingering & Mohair Silk Lace - Kit 5

Our Overlay Sweater & Vest Kits include the yarns and pattern needed to create Sanna & Co's incredible intarsia brioche design. 

Kits will be dyed-to-order and will ship by late April.

Relaxed fit, squishy brioche fabric and an interesting play with colour and texture, what more could you want from a brioche knit!

The name overlay refers to the 2 layers of colour and pattern, overlaid on top of each other. By creating colour changes to each layer individually, you get an interesting interplay of colour and texture.

In this design, the background colour is split into two panels horizontally and the foreground colour is split into two panels vertically.  Together they create 4 different colour combinations in an effect similar to woven fabrics.

You also have the option of creating either a sweater or vest.

SIZING & FIT

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9).

To fit chest (fullest point) circumference: 80 (90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150, 160) cm / 31.5 (35.5, 39.5, 43.25, 47.25, 51.25, 55, 59, 63)" with the recommended 20cm / 8" positive ease.

GAUGE

• 13.5 sts and 46 rows = 10cm / 4" in 2-colour brioche on 4mm needles after blocking.
• 17 sts and 28 rows = 10cm / 4" in Stockinette st (Rolled edge trims with yarn A3 held double or yarns A2 and B2 held together) on 4mm needles after blocking.

MATERIALS + TOOLS

Recommended Needles: 

• 3.75mm, 80-100cm length depending on size worked.
• 4mm, 80-100cm length depending on size worked and 40-60cm length and needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round.
• Spare 4mm double pointed needle or circular needle.
• Always use a needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

Notions:

• 2 stitch markers, 2 stitch holders or scrap yarn, tapestry needle.

• Italian tubular CO
• 2-colour Brioche worked flat

PROCESS

Overlay is worked in 2-colour brioche knitting.  Body front and back are worked in pieces from bottom up, with an intarsia pattern.

Shoulders are joined together with 3-needle bind-off and sides are seamed together with mattress stitch.

Collar and sleeve stitches are picked up from neck-line and sleeve openings and worked in the round.

Our Overlay Kits have been created using two of our most luxurious non-superwash yarn bases and have been tested to ensure that the recommended pattern gauge is achieveable.

• A1, A2 & A3: Lexington Woolies Tasmania Cormo Fingering - 100% Cormo wool (365m/100g) per skein.
• B1 & B2: Louie & Lola Yarns Mohair Silk Lace - 72% Kid Mohair / 28% Mulberry Silk (420m/50g) per skein.

All kits have been designed to meet the meterage requirements for each size.

All yarns are hand dyed in small batches using professional quality acid dyes and heat set to ensure colours that will last.

Every effort has been made to remove any excess dye from the yarn, however a little may remain, particularly with dark and rich colours.  It is therefore recommended to gently hand wash your hand dyed projects on their own, in cold water, with wool wash or a mild detergent.
