Let's Knit for the Girls again in 2024

Let's Knit for the Girls again in 2024

Home   News from the Dye Pots   Let's Knit for the Girls again in 2024

September 26, 2024

UPDATE FRIDAY 11 OCTOBER 2024:

Due to some NBCF website technical issues (which NBCF have advised will be resolved next week), we are currently relying upon NBCF to provide us with a daily spreadsheet of the donations made the prior day from which to draw our prize winners.

We will next receive these on Monday, 14 October, at which time we will draw and announce the last daily prize and grand prize winners.

SO, rather than closing off the fundraiser on Saturday, 12 October, we've decided to extend it by a day - meaning you can also make donations on Sunday, 13 October and still be in the running for the grand prize draws.

AND...because of your incredible support and hitting our original $25K target today, we've decided to up it to $30K, which is the amount we raised in 2023.

Thank you for your incredible support to-date & we are so thrilled you have enjoyed 'Knit for the Girls 2024!

Warm Regards,

Karina, Louie & Lola Yarns

***

Welcome to our 4th annual fundraiser in the fight against breast cancer 'Knit for the Girls'.

Join us, together with Sam & Olga of Thread and Maple and Tracie & Jodi of the Grocery Girls to raise funds for life-saving breast cancer research.

Here's what we've got going:

  • Online fundraisers in both Australia and Canada, with fibre-tastic daily raffle prizes between 5th-12th October, with over 30 daily & grand prizes, featuring luxurious yarn & accessories from some of Australia's & Canada's finest indie dyers, mills & fibre artist suppliers.
  • A new limited edition 2024 'Knit for the Girls' fundraiser bundle, available for purchase in our online shop at 12noon AEDT, Saturday 12th October (and also available from Grocery Girls and Thread & Maple shops at 12noon EDT on Saturday 12th October).

This year's 'Knit for the Girls' fundraiser bundle will offer not one but FIVE pattern choices, by five talented designers, including two options for fellow crocheters:

  • Helen Stewart - Wishing Star Shawl (Knit + a new EXCLUSIVE release!)
  • Tracie Millar - Galiano Socks (Knit)
  • Melanie Berg - Rainy Day Hat & Mitts (Knit)
  • Toni Lipsey - Party Punch Shawl (Tunisian crochet)
  • Carmen Heffernan - Vintage Peach Shawl (Standard crochet)

I have dyed up a fun speckled Merino Nylon Sock colourway that works perfectly with all five patterns, whilst Thread & Maple have created a new rose/wine/vanchetta mini shopper tote, embossed with the breast cancer emblem.

These limited edition bundles will include:
      • The T&M Mini Shopper Tote (which can comfortably fit a 1-2 skein project),
      • Your choice of knitting or crochet pattern from our five fabulous designs
      • One skein of Louie & Lola Yarns Merino Nylon Sock (75% superwash 19.5 micron Merino, 25% Nylon, 425m/100g) in the 'Knit for the Girls 2024' colourway, and
      • A commemorative boobie pin designed by Shelli Can,
The bundles will go on sale at 12noon AEDT, Saturday 12th October in the Louie & Lola Yarns online shop.

They will be priced at $199AUD and we will be donating $30AUD to Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation from every bundle sold.

They will also be available in the Thread & Maple & Grocery Girls shops at 12noon EDT, Saturday 12th October.

Please note the cross-body strap will be available for separate purchase from the bundle.

The bundles are priced at $199AUD and we will donate $30AUD to Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation from each bundle sold.

It’s hard to find a member of this tight-knit community who hasn’t been impacted by breast cancer, be it personally or through a family member or friend.

Let's unite to show support for this important cause.

      Proudly Supporting

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is Australia’s leading not-for-profit organization funding world-class breast cancer research towards the vision of Zero Deaths from breast cancer.  We are proud to be a corporate fundraiser.

Breast Cancer Canada provides funding for researchers in cancer centers, universities and laboratories across the country. It receives no government funding, all the research is driven through the generosity of donors.

'KNIT FOR THE GIRLS' AUSTRLALIAN FUNDRAISER DAILY PRIZES

We will be drawing two lucky daily prize winners from Sunday 6th October to Saturday 12th October, at random from the prior day's donation list.

Simply make a donation of $5 or more to be eligible to win these fiber-tastic prizes!

        FAQ

How do I enter the online fundraisers?

Every $5+ donation to our National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) online fundraiser page between 5th-12th October counts as one entry into the following day's raffle prize draw. We will select two daily winners from all of the previous day's donations.  All donors who contribute throughout the week are entered into the Australian grand prize drawings. You can also enter the North American raffles by donating via the Knit for the Girls Breast Cancer Canada fundraiser page.

Where & when can I buy the 'Knit for the Girls' bundles?

'Knit for the Girls' bundles will go on sale in our shop at 12noon AEDT, Saturday 12th October.  They will be priced at $199 AUD, with $30 from the sale of every bundle being donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  More details will be announced very soon.

The bundles will also be available for purchase at www.grocerygirlsknit.com and www.threadandmaple.com at 12noon EDT, Saturday 12th October.

Please note that bundle quantities will be strictly limited.

Which fundraiser should I donate to?

This is a team effort to raise as much as possible for breast cancer research. Donations in the Aussie NBCF fundraiser will gain you entries into the Aussie raffle prize drawings and donations to the BCC fundraiser will gain you entries into the North American prize drawings. Regardless of where you live, you can contribute to both.

What are the fundraiser prizes this year?

We will be sharing full prize pool details very soon.  Check back soon!
