About Bergliebe

The pattern can be purchased separately from Isabell's Ravelry store here.

Bergliebe [bʹɛrgliːbɵ] is worked seamlessly from the top down.

Starting with the neck shaping, short rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck. The yoke is then worked in the round to sleeve separation. Increases are worked into the textured part of the yoke, followed by raglan increases for the lower part of the yoke.

Sleeve stitches are placed on hold to work the body top down. Sleeves are worked top down in rounds to the cuffs. No finishing required.

All kits have been designed to meet the meterage requirements for each size.

It is important you swatch and achieve the pattern gauge, as this will affect yarn usage.  Likewise, any pattern modifications such as additional body or sleeve length will affect yarn usage.  Should you wish to purchase an additional skein/s to enable pattern modifications please don't hesitate to Contact Us.

Yarn Base Info

HARVEST HUES 4 PLY BY JOHN ARBON TEXTILES (DYED BY LOUIE & LOLA)

Fibre Content: 33% Bluefaced Leicester / 33% Falklands Merino / 33% Zwartbles

Meterage: 400 metres / 437 yards per 100g.

Gauge & Needles: John Arbon Textiles does not give a recommended needle/hook size for their yarns, as everyone’s gauge is subtly different. It is possible to achieve quite a wide range of gauges with this yarn. A tighter gauge (more sts per cm/inch) will create a denser fabric and a looser gauge (fewer sts) will create a drapier fabric.  If you are substituting yarn for a pattern, we recommend comparing the meterage. If your yarn is within 25 metres of the given yarn per 100g then you should be able to happily get the correct gauge.

Characteristics: Inspired by the subtle tones of autumn in the Devon landscape, John Arbon Textiles set out to achieve a similar effect by blending the super saturated tones of our dyed Falklands Merino and lustrous Bluefaced Leicester with the naturally dark fibre of Devon-farmed Zwartbles. Together, they create a sublime depth of colour – transforming the resulting Harvest Hues yarn into complex, mottled, autumnal shades. The soft-as-a-cloud Merino, elegant Bluefaced Leicester and bouncy Zwartbles complement each other perfectly, giving the yarn a delicate woolly halo and full-bodied texture, and the perfect blend of softness, bounce and shine. Harvest Hues 4 Ply is a 2-fold, worsted spun, non-superwash (untreated) yarn that creates a beautiful drapey fabric.

Use: Perfect for garments, shawls and other light weight accessories especially those with cables and texture.

Working with Hand Dyed Yarns

Hand-dyed in small batches in Tasmania.

The beauty and nature of hand dyed yarn is that every skein is unique and individual. Even within the same dye batch variations between skeins can occur.

We therefore recommend alternating skeins within your projects to ensure an optimal finish and colour blending.

Please also ensure you buy enough yarn for your project at the time of purchase, as colours can vary between dye batches.

Our yarns come twisted in a skein and will need to be wound into a cake before knitting. You can do that yourself or have it done by us using our Cake Your Yarn service.

Care Instructions

Hand wash only as this kit features non-superwash yarn.

Our hand dyed yarns have been washed to remove excess dye, however some residual dye may remain, particularly in dark and saturated colourways.

It is recommended to gently hand wash your hand dyed projects in cold water.

Wool wash or a mild detergent may be used.

We recommend blocking and drying garments flat and not tumble drying.
