Welcome to the July 2026 - Flock & Feather Yarn of the Month - the Partridge Silkie Hen.
Our main skein features a light warm brown base, to which we have added further layers of mauve pink, a warm clay and silver grey. We've finished her off with speckles of chocolate, tan, rust and yellow.
We've paired our Partridge Silkie Hen with semi-solid mini skeins in mauve pink and off white, perfect for using as contrast colours in heels, toes and cuffs.
Designed specifically for sock knitters, our Flock & Feather sock sets feature one 100g skein of sock yarn and two contrasting 20g minis, perfect for making a pair of socks (or even two pairs)!
The Partridge Silkie is a specific color variety of the Silkie, a popular breed of chicken renowned for its atypically fluffy, silk-like plumage, black skin, and five toes. The partridge variety features striking brownish-red and black feather patterns.
On the first day of every month we release a new Flock & Feather 'Yarn of the Month' sock set, which will be available only during the respective month, inspired by a different chicken breed.
This listing will close on 31st July 2026 or when yarns sell out.
Flock & Feather sock sets are dyed to order will ship in the last week of the month.

Hand-dyed in small batches in Tasmania.
The beauty and nature of hand dyed yarn is that every skein is unique and individual. Even within the same dye batch variations between skeins can occur.
We therefore recommend alternating skeins within your projects to ensure an optimal finish and colour blending.
Please also ensure you buy enough yarn for your project at the time of purchase, as colours can vary between dye batches.
This yarn comes in a skein, it will need to be wound into a cake before knitting. You can do that yourself or have it done by us using our Cake Your Yarn service.
Our hand dyed yarns have been washed to remove excess dye, however some residual dye may remain, particularly in dark and saturated colourways.
It is recommended to gently hand wash your hand dyed projects in cold water.
Wool wash or a mild detergent may be used.
We recommend blocking and drying garments flat and not tumble drying.
Ready to Ship items will ship within 2-3 business days.
For Pre-Order or Dyed to Order items, please refer to the shipping timeframe advice as noted on the product listing above. Any orders placed which include both ready-to-ship and pre-order items will be shipped together once the pre-order item is ready to be shipped.
We offer flat rate shipping and ship worldwide, except to the EU.
A local pick up option is also available from our Dye Studio Shop in Claude Road, Tasmania.
Shipping will be calculated at checkout.
All orders are sent with tracking using Australia Post. We offer both Parcel Post and Express Post options.
