Welcome to the May 2026 - Flock & Feather Yarn of the Month - The Old English Game Bantam.
Our main skein features a cool grey base with a green undertone, highlighted with speckles of sand, yellow and chocolate.
We've paired our rooster with semi-solid mini skeins in a cool white-grey and vibrant yellow.
Designed specifically for sock knitters, our Flock & Feather sock sets feature one 100g skein of sock yarn and two contrasting 20g minis, perfect for making a pair of socks (or even two pairs)!
The Old English Game bantam is a delightful miniature breed of chicken that originated in Great Britain in the 1800s, bred from ancient English fighting cocks.
Renowned for its spirited personality, athletic build, and extensive variety of plumage patterns, these birds are now primarily kept for exhibition and as ornamental backyard pets.
They are known for being active, alert, and occasionally "pugnacious". While they can be tame with regular handling, they are notoriously flighty and protective of their territory.
The Old English Game Bantam are poor egg layers, averaging around 100–160 small, cream or tinted eggs per year, though the hens can often go broody.
On the first day of every month we release a new Flock & Feather 'Yarn of the Month' sock set, which will be available only during the respective month, inspired by a different chicken breed.
This listing will close on 31st May 2026 or when yarns sell out.
Flock & Feather sock sets are dyed to order will ship in the last week of the month.

Hand-dyed in small batches in Tasmania.
The beauty and nature of hand dyed yarn is that every skein is unique and individual. Even within the same dye batch variations between skeins can occur.
We therefore recommend alternating skeins within your projects to ensure an optimal finish and colour blending.
Please also ensure you buy enough yarn for your project at the time of purchase, as colours can vary between dye batches.
This yarn comes in a skein, it will need to be wound into a cake before knitting. You can do that yourself or have it done by us using our Cake Your Yarn service.
Our hand dyed yarns have been washed to remove excess dye, however some residual dye may remain, particularly in dark and saturated colourways.
It is recommended to gently hand wash your hand dyed projects in cold water.
Wool wash or a mild detergent may be used.
We recommend blocking and drying garments flat and not tumble drying.
Ready to Ship items will ship within 2-3 business days.
For Pre-Order or Dyed to Order items, please refer to the shipping timeframe advice as noted on the product listing above. Any orders placed which include both ready-to-ship and pre-order items will be shipped together once the pre-order item is ready to be shipped.

A local pick up option is also available from our Dye Studio Shop in Claude Road, Tasmania.
Shipping will be calculated at checkout.
All orders are sent with tracking using Australia Post. We offer both Parcel Post and Express Post options.
