Combining next level softness, warmth and loftiness, our Merino Possum DK is a truly luxurious base that is unlike any other and perfect for next-to-skin wear for mid-weight garments.
It works well especially well in stranded colourwork and textured projects, such as sweaters and accessories.
It's rich heathered, undyed oatmeal colour lends a depth and complexity to the 30 colourways we dye on it, whilst the possum fur adds a soft grey-brown halo and soft drape to the yarn.
Spun by Wild Earth Yarns in Christchurch, New Zealand as a blend of 80% non-superwash Merino and 20% NZ Possum fur, the yarn's woollen spun construction further enhances the thermal properties of the possum fur, which is considered the third warmest fibre in the world.
The yarn works well at a variety of gauges from 18-22 stitches, due to the halo from the possum fur 'filling in' the gaps between the stitches.
